Tropical storm Fay, as it swept over Haiti and Cuba and took 35 lives in the Caribean, is about to bear down on south Florida.
Last year at this time, I was planning my vacation to Florida. I flew at the end of hurricane season. On my last full day there, I experienced an afternoon shower as I drove from St. Augustine back to West Palm Beach. It was freaky how fast it developed and there was nothing I could do but to keep driving through it or just pull off to the side of the road and wait.
